ABOUT Takumi Ogura:
Tokyo-based fashion designer Takumi Ogura explores the space between traditional craftsmanship and the evolving language of contemporary menswear. Born in Tokyo in 1997, he is currently studying at Bunka Fashion College, where he is developing an approach that questions conventional ideas of gender through textile experimentation, artisanal techniques, and feminine elements.
For Takumi, craftsmanship is not simply a connection to the past but a starting point for innovation. He combines traditional making processes with new approaches to textile development, using material, construction, and silhouette to rethink what menswear can be.
His work has already gained recognition through finalist selections for the YKK Fastening Awards, the Soen Award, and the JFW Japan New Creators Awards. In 2025, he presented his collection as part of Bunka Fashion College’s student runway during Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.
Rooted in Japanese craftsmanship while looking firmly towards the future, Takumi’s practice reflects a generation of designers interested in making menswear more fluid, expressive, and open to new possibilities.
