Mia Seo was born in Tong-young, a rural city in the Southernmost part of Korea, often called "the Napoli of Asia."
Her hometown was beautiful and provided her with great inspiration, but she dreamed of a new world and bigger cities across the sea. When she was 18, she moved to Seoul to study jewelry design.
She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Metal Craft from Sungshin Women's University (SSWU) in 2018.
She is currently an M.F.A. candidate at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, U.S.A.
Mia's creative process use the metal, textures, colors, and forms of nature, emulating references from her childhood experiences in Tong-young. She explores alternative materials, like recycled plastic to turn discarded resources into sea inspired designs.
Her work carries a message of sustainability and a vision of finding beauty in the unexpected.
