ABOUT MARTINA'S COLLECTION:
Mata Durikovic is fashion womenswear graduate at Central Saint Martins in 2022, LVMH green trail award nominee, and multiple awards winner, such as Media Award by ITS:plastform contest in 2022, Best Fashion Graduate 2022 winner by Slovak Fashion Council, winner of Copenhagen Fashion Summit 2019 sustainability price, besides being awarded Swarovski Foundation and UPW scholarships. Mata has showcased her ‘’PINK MATRIX’’ 23 collection during London Fashion week in February.
Mata has various experiences and demonstrated history of working in textile design and womenswear luxury industry as a textile designer in textile design and research team in Chanel and Lemarié embroidery house. Besides, Mata is focused in her personal work on sustainable luxury fashion within MADbyMAD bioluxury brand, with motto: « be MAD! be Bioluxury! « where using bioplastic as leather replacement « bioplastic crystal leather » and within 3D embroidery, all in combination with recycled Swarovski crystal waste and zero waste techniques such as knitwear and crochet.
In my work, I focus on sustainability in luxury fashion and textiles. I have seen the lack of sustainability within the field and this made me to explore the subject of using bioplastics. I mastered its‘ specific techniques and aim to show the various uses of bioplastics in luxury fashion, by using materials I have developed – ‘‘bioplastic crystal leather‘‘ and ‘‘bioplastic embroidery‘‘.
I consider myself as a bio/upcycling/zero waste fashion designer following my ideology of ‘‘bioluxury era‘‘ proving that luxury can be sustainable, while maintaining the high standard of haute couture.
