ABOUT EINAV:
Einav Said (32) is an Israeli fashion designer whose work is deeply rooted in the history of her family and the cultural heritage of Yemen. Born and raised in Israel, Einav grew up surrounded by the stories of her grandparents, who immigrated from Yemen in 1947 as part of Operation Magic Carpet. Their courageous journey, marked by displacement and resilience, profoundly shaped her identity and artistic vision.
Her graduate collection revisits this personal and collective history, exploring the tension between a rich cultural tradition and the forced assimilation into Western norms. For her grandparents, leaving behind traditional clothing, jewelry, and symbols of identity was not merely a change of wardrobe but the loss of belonging. Einav translates this experience into womenswear that blends precise Western tailoring—echoing the masculine suit—with elements of Yemeni dress: hand embroidery, knits, wool, leather, and screen printing.
A monochromatic palette reflects the imposed uniformity of assimilation, while sharp accents of red stand for heritage, longing, and the journey itself. Oversized, masculine silhouettes are softened with feminine details, creating a dialogue between strength and vulnerability, past and present. Each garment is conceived not only as clothing but as testimony—an archive of memory stitched into contemporary form.
For Einav, fashion is a powerful medium of storytelling. Through fabric, stitch, and silhouette, she illuminates narratives of identity, tradition, and femininity, giving them a fresh and relevant voice. Her design approach honors artisanal craftsmanship while engaging critically with modernity, building bridges between heritage and contemporary fashion.
Ultimately, Einav’s vision is to preserve cultural identity through design while opening it to new interpretations. Her work embodies both quiet resistance and resilience: a reminder that even when traditions are silenced or hidden, they remain alive, re-emerging in new forms that continue to inspire and empower
