About Dilara Övet:

Dilara Övet is a Turkish fashion and textile designer whose work bridges tradition, sustainability, and contemporary design. Born in Sinop and now based between Istanbul and Milan, she holds degrees from MSGSÜ and NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, where she refined her passion for accessories, textiles, and sustainable practices. Her creative language is rooted in bold patterns and sculptural forms, always tied to storytelling through fabric and craft.

Her latest project takes inspiration from the artisanal linen weaving traditions of Ayancık, a district in her hometown. There, a community of women continues to dedicate their lives to producing and weaving linen, preserving a heritage that embodies resilience and care. By reinterpreting this natural fabric within a contemporary framework, Övet designed a women’s shoe collection that celebrates both the strength of these women and the potential of sustainable design.

The collection merges craftsmanship with modernity: linen — durable, natural, and historically rich — becomes the foundation for shoes that embody both elegance and innovation. Through her designs, Övet emphasizes the importance of rethinking materials and processes in fashion, combining ecological responsibility with aesthetic experimentation. Each piece becomes not only an accessory but also a symbol of continuity, carrying forward cultural memory while reducing harm to nature.

At the core of her philosophy is the belief that design must serve as a dialogue between past and future. For Övet, sustainability is not only about materials, but also about preserving knowledge, empowering communities, and creating products that endure both physically and emotionally. Her shoes stand as testaments to the possibility of aligning tradition with progress — transforming a centuries-old craft into a language of modern, futuristic design.

Through her work, Dilara Övet seeks to inspire a more conscious and respectful relationship between fashion and the natural world, reminding us that innovation often begins by listening to the stories already woven into our heritage.
