ABOUT Caterina Giovanelli Neumair:
Caterina Giovanelli is a knitwear designer from Egna, a small town in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Her creative path began with a classical education before taking her to Venice to study fashion, where she discovered a particular fascination for knitwear and its potential for experimentation.
Curious about both the technical and expressive sides of the discipline, Caterina developed her skills through internships at Spaccio Maglieria in Milan and the Stockholm-based label Hodakova. These experiences introduced her to different approaches to knitwear, from traditional craftsmanship to more experimental forms of design.
She went on to specialise in knitwear through a Master’s degree, combining technical knowledge with a contemporary approach that treats knit as a material for exploration rather than simply a technique. In March 2026, she presented her graduate collection during Paris Fashion Week, marking an important step in her development as a designer.
Now based in the professional world, Caterina is continuing to deepen her practice as an intern in the Women’s Knitwear Design Team at Prada, where she is exploring the balance between precision, innovation, and the distinctive character of knitwear.
