ABOUT BENEDETTA:

I am Benedetta Rolando, a fashion design student at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) in Turin. I consider myself a creative and cheerful person. I love the world of art in all its forms, from illustration to music and fashion, as well as the humanities such as philosophy and anthropology.

My studies have equipped me well, allowing me to express my ideas in many fields, from graphic and technical drawing to pattern making and graphic design.

Over the three years, I have also strengthened my organizational skills and ability to work in a team, always remaining determined and curious about any experience and novelty.

ABOUT BENEDETTA's COLLECTION:

In a frenetic and virtual world like today's, where everything from arts to fashion is fleeting and nothing remains, values such as quality, craftsmanship, and creativity are lost in a stream of conflicting images and information. For new generations of designers and artists to improve the world, seeking to prioritize emotion over profit, they must recognize the beauty of care, commitment, and passion for something they love and desire, creating a new identity and intimacy. In relationships, this intimacy is the means that allows for a secret connection between people, made up of emotions, hidden thoughts, and dreams, breaking down masks and vulnerabilities.

One of the glues that holds together the most intimate shades of the human soul is music. As philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer states in his essay "The World as Will and Representation," it represents the inner essence of the world with a universal language, with absolute truth and a language made of simple sounds. It is an art that goes beyond matter, the only one that can exist even without the existence of the world. This concept can also be applied to fashion, developing a collection inspired by jazz and swing notes, where in a hidden club between the streets of Chicago and New York, a young Italian achieves the "American Dream," sharing the stories and songs of one of his favorite artists, Fred Buscaglione, within four walls, amidst rivers of whiskey and cigarettes.

Further references, in addition to the songs of the multi-instrumentalist from Turin, are the docufilm of the famous trumpeter Chet Baker ("Let's Get Lost") directed by photographer Bruce Weber and the film "Whiplash" by director Damien Chazelle. Both, albeit in different ways, tell the passion and determination of a musician when he wants to achieve and realize his personal dream, which is to spread his art and music to remain immortal over time.

The FW collection "Che Notte" aims to tell the story of a young and vibrant dream, of a boy like many others, a lover of jazz music who, mysterious and unsure of his musical tastes, wants to open up to realize his first concert. Fashion, in this context, has the role of dressing his songs and personality through the use of tailored men's clothing, but renewed with oversized and structured garments.

The color palette is inspired by the nightlife world depicted by Fred Buscaglione, featuring the red of passionate nights, the gray of smoke, the yellow of whiskey, and the black and white of the night. For details and accents, fuchsia, purple, and neon blue evoke the lights of the clubs. The use of colorful digital prints and embroidery, reminiscent of dandy-style clothing, tells of loves and events with a '50s flavor that only a man wanting to return to certain sartorial traditions and attention to detail in craftsmanship can wear.
