ABOUT ÁSA BRÍET BRATTABERG:
Ása Bríet Brattaberg is an Icelandic fashion designer based in Paris. Her work merges craftsmanship, textile innovation, and a strong commitment to sustainability, with fashion envisioned as both a cultural language and a platform for change.
She began her journey in Iceland, studying tailoring and mastering garment construction, a foundation that continues to inform her precise approach to cut and form. She later pursued textile design at The Reykjavík School of Visual Arts, where she explored how materials can carry meaning beyond function.
Ása then completed a BA in Womenswear at Central Saint Martins in London, where she began merging tailoring with textile experimentation, balancing technical precision with conceptual exploration. This period marked the beginning of her interest in garments as cultural statements as well as crafted objects.
Most recently, she graduated from Institut Français de la Mode in Paris with a Master’s in Knitwear. Her graduate collection explored the tension between heritage and modernity, using knitwear’s repetitive, rhythmic processes to create pieces that embody protection, memory, and transformation. The collection highlighted her ability to weave narrative and symbolism into technically innovative garments.
Driven by a belief in artistry, quality, and longevity, Ása is committed to building a more sustainable fashion industry—one that respects both craft and the future. Her practice bridges tailoring, textiles, and knitwear, creating a design language that reflects her Icelandic roots, her international education, and her vision of fashion as a space for cultural dialogue and responsible creativity.
