ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Andrea Roman is a young Italian fashion designer. Born and raised in a small village near Venice, called Oderzo, after high school in science and math, he moved to London starting his career in the fashion world.
At first with the Foundation Year and later with the BA course in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni. Inspired and intrigued about several different subjects such as arts, history, science, tech and philosophy all of which contributes to the development of a peculiar vision and a way of thinking out of the box. Passion for what he does is the first clearly visible aspect of his personality; nonetheless, his work consists in traditional menswear with a special look at tailoring: the experimental textiles and artisanal manipulations of each piece give power to his collections. Accuracy and extreme attention to details from the choice of materials to the manufacturing of the piece is the essential core of his creative process. The result is a blend of emotions driven by not only the sight but also the touch, empowering who is wearing the garment as well as inspiring who is looking.
Can there be an element of beauty in the unforeseen crisis of a collapsed city? Inspired by the ruins that earthquakes left in central Italy, and other dramatic events, this modern vision of a classic menswear collection extracts the feelings from these moments in their purest forms. Intricate manipulations, innovative textiles combined with traditional shapes and artisanal hand-work engender a fresh collection. Anxiety kindled by the crisis unveils raw edges, unfinished sections and transparencies; through a blend with clean finishes and tailoring elements, one is then lead to their rebirth.
