Born in Heusden, a small town in the middle south of the Netherlands, Wieke Sinnige from the beginning liked being creative.
After her first fashion experience at the School for Fashion at Tilburg, and an exciting work experience in Paris, she started her education at ArtEZ Institute for the Arts at Arnhem, during which she had the great opportunity to works again in Paris as an intern at John Galliano and for Alexander Mc Queen, making prints.
During summer 2014 she graduated Cum Laude.
Her “Soft Square” collection is located in the gray area between structured images and chaotic dreams.
Inspired by the kaleidoscope she transferred forms like the square, triangle and the circle to prints and textiles, with the goal to confuse the viewer.
She works with materials that are mirroring and reflecting, so depth is suggested that in reality isn’t there, she also pleat and fold flat fabrics so that the illusion of a 3-dimensional image is created based on 2-dimensional materials. She said:
“I am trying to generate confusion through layering and transparency of prints and textiles. As a result, the viewer does not know where a print of garment begins or ends.
In this way I try to create a world where feeling and ratios are balanced”
After graduating she has been selected for several contest including Mittelmoda: the Fashion Award.
She just finished an amazing internship at Maison Martin Margiela in Paris, where she worked on the couture and the ready to wear on prints, embroideries and textile manipulation.
