I am Safia Semlali, I am a womenswear fashion designer.
I grew up in Switzerland in a small town called Vevey and I studied my bachelor degree at the University of Art and Design of Geneva (HEAD).
I interned in Antwerp at Jan-Jan Van Esche and then went to London where I just finished my master degree at Central Saint Martins.
Born and raised by my swiss mother who is a sawer and my moroccan father who was a ballet dancer, I can say I am inspired by both sides of my family. I guess due to this, my work is mainly about expression of oppositions and mixing very different themes.
I am always motivated by a free and spontaneous expression of different influences from Morocco and want to express them by a rigorous technique and a strong visual inspired by swiss graphic design.
Mainly inspired by all the girls and women un my family, I want to show through my work the diversity of what femininity is for me.
