Rafael Kouto graduated with a BA in Fashion Design at the Institute of Fashion Design, University Of Applied Arts and Sciences, Nothwestern Switzerland, Academy of Arts and Design.
He had the opportunity to do an internship at Alexander McQueen’s Womenswear Department in London and recently at Maison Margiela Atelier Couture in Paris.
Kouto’s design is mostly inspired from art and couture masterpieces from the past and inexplicable natural phenomenon, related to dreams, fears and visions of the human being. In particular for their dense presence of sentiments and nature.
The garments are charachterized by a mix of paradoxes: drapage and moulage, feminine and masculine, couture and sportswear.
The purpose, through his works is to research a new aesthetic value of fashion including androgyny, craftsmanship and innovation.
