Flora Miranda is an Austrian fashion designer.
Throughout her work the main focus is on the human being, one’s body, senses and perception.
Flora explores physical border experiences that take place in a virtual or actual reality.
Flora spent her formative years growing up in the circle of a family of artists and musicians where she developed her skills as a painter. Since her graduation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp she made her name at the ateliers of Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen.
In that sense her drive to function as an inspirator and visionaire is challenging the obsolete idea of haute couture. Flora seeks to create dreams and desires, to her fashion does not only describe garments, it involves a whole aesthetic world that we are surrounding ourselves with, that we believe in.
In the fashion collection _sidereal_ethereal_immaterial_ Flora is dealing with the disintegration of physical borders, with the immaterial body based on quantumphysics. Her initial vision is to beam oneself from one place to the other, to break up the system of space and time.
Therefore she creates a futuristic silhouette, lets the body decompose in its single particles, the garments are fragmented and fleeing from their strict form.
